On December 4, 2020, PASS hosted a two-part public conversation during the International Biennial Association (IBA)’s annual General Assembly. These sessions extend the conversations begun in the publication, underscoring our aim to engage with ideas over time, with care, and across formats.

Moderated by Sylvie Fortin and Basak Senova, the second panel brought together four PASS contributors–artist Adam Khalil, theorist Denise Ferreira da Silva and architect/curators Andrés Jaque and Marina Otero (13th Shanghai Biennale)–to explore and speculate on the ways in which the pandemic has reconfigured the notion of sustainability by putting demands for justice at its very center. What will sustainability mean for biennials?
